meet our founders
crystal arnette
is a Storyteller. She is the founder of the multi-media production collective Adventure We Can. Along with The Bats, she co-created SERIALS @ the flea in 2010, for which she served as Associate Producer and eventually Creative Lead Producer along with Cleo Gray from 2014-16. Crystal is the resident videographer for The Flea, Ars Nova + Colt Coeur. Additionally, she has created video content with New York Theatre Workshop, Ensemble Studio Theatre, ECM Records, Folksbiene, Playwrights Horizons, Shantell Martin, Master Voices, Geometry Global, Reuters, HSBC, Unilever, The Make It Fair Project and many more. Since 2011, she has created nearly 300 videos amassing over 4 million views. During her 6 seasons as a member of The Bats, the acclaimed resident acting company of The Flea Theater, she premiered Kristiana Colón’s but i cd only whisper, Mallory Avidon’s Mary-Kate Olsen Is In Love, and Stephen Banks’ Looking At Christmas. Crystal has also performed with The Bushwick Starr, Atlantic Theater Co, Woolly Mammoth, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, The P.I.T., Webster Hall and more. Crystal stars in the indie features What We’ve Become, You Can’t Kill Stephen King and Yesterday Is Here, short films Polaroid Girl (Best Actor - Mumbai IQFF), Requited, Aprille/Desirae and Dear Lucas and can be seen currently in the hit web seres Unicornland. She has worked on advertising campaigns & films with Olson, Droga5, Radical Media, Sony/RCA Records, M ss ng P eces, Supply & Demand, Carousel-NYC, Daily Candy, Film Orange, Mass Appeal and Sharkaa Films. She is a BFA graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA).
cleo gray
is an actor, producer, and activist born in South Korea and raised in New Jersey. She was a member of The Flea Theater’s resident acting company (2011-2016), The Bats, and was a co-producer of the hit late night series #serials@theflea (2014-16) alongside Crystal Arnette. Cleo’s credits at The Flea include the World premieres of a The Place We Built by Sarah Gancher directed by Danya Taymor; a cautionary tail by christopher oscar peña; Thomas Bradshaw’s JOB (both directed by Benjamin Kamine), and Qui Nguyen’s She Kills Monsters (directed by Robert Ross Parker), as well as the NYC premieres of the critically acclaimed and Drama Desk nominated These Seven Sicknesses by Sean Graney and Amy Freed’s Restoration Comedy (both Drama Desk nominations for dir. Ed Sylvanus Iskandar). She has also appeared at the Flea in workshops and readings for Robert Askins, A. Rey Pamatmat, Krista Knight/Barry Brinegar, Tommy Smith, Anson Mount and Lauren Yee as well as 50+ short plays for #serials. Other New York credits include the World Premiere of Ma-Yi Theatre Co’s Soldier X by Rehana Lew Mirza, directed by Lucie Tiberghien; Ivy Theatre Co.’s DONKEY PUNCH by Micheline Auger (Soho Playhouse), Empire Travel Agency (Woodshed Collective), Youngblood’s Asking For Trouble (’12 – ’16) @ The Ensemble Studio Theatre) as well as numerous workshops and readings with Ma-Yi, EST, Woodshed Collective, Studio 42, Labyrinth, Clubbed Thumb, Lark Play Development, New Georges, Ars Nova, Target Margin, New Dramatists and the Jewish Plays Project.
